Dr. Cherner performs a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures., as well as "Capsule Cam" (wireless capsule videoendoscopy of small bowel), Bravo wireless 48 hour ambulatory pH monitoring, Barrx radiofrequency ablation of Barrett's esophagus, and dilation of esophageal strictures and rings.  Dr. Cherner has a particular interest in prevention of colorectal cancer by detecting and removing polyps, performing nearly one thousand colonoscopies per year for that purpose.  For those patients for whom it is medically appropriate, Dr. Cherner readily uses Osmoprep tablets for bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy. Biliary endoscopy (ERCP) is performed by a Gastroenterology Consultants colleague with particular expertise in that area,   while endoscopic ultrasound his performed by a colleague expert in that procedure. Virtually any laboratory test that may help in diagnosing and managing your condition is available through the practice.  Screening and risk determination of certain conditions for which genetic testing is available may be arranged for appropriate patients.   Specialized therapies offered by Dr. Cherner include Lotronex for diarrhea-dominant irritable bowel syndrome, treatment of chronic hepatitis C and B. Dr. Cherner provides ready accessto clinical trials of novel treatments of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis available within Gastroenterology Consultants.   Remicade infusions have been provided under the supervison of Dr. Cherner in his North Fulton office by the same dedicated infusion therapy RN for over seven years.  Virtually any GI procedure that is appropriate for a patient's problem, from hemorrhoid banding to liver and pancreas transplantation can be facilitated by Dr. Cherner and his staff.
